User Question about picture size Empty User Question about picture size

Hi,

I just bought the lite version and tried a bit.
It's nice but I have a question.
When I zoom the picture before I save it, the picture is quite clear but after I saved it into JPG, the resolution is low and becomes not clear after zooming into it.

Please advise if any way to save in bigger resolution??

Thank you!

First, thank a lot for your contribution!

When you save an artwork, two files would be created. One .XAW is the main data, the other .JPG is a preview file.
I assume you're referring to the preview file when you 'save to JPG'.

To output a high-res, use the "Export Snapshot" function (via App Menu->Actions-Save->Export Snapshot).

The max size depends on your graphics card. Sth like 12k x 12k would be fine with a discrete graphics card from nvidia or AMD.

User Question about picture size Empty more questions

Post  Joe Tin Thu 13 Nov 2014, 10:32 am

Dear admin,

Thanks for your reply!

I have few more questions when using it:
1. as I'm an illustrator, sometimes after I created an artwork (let's say in JPG format) I would like to use this software to add some chinese style writings on my artwork.
But I find that the software is not able to open a JPG file to do this, is there anyway to do what I want in this case?
2. Besides, can I save the file in PNG format with transparent background instead of the traditional Chinese paper background?
3. I'm very interested in the watercolor effect that your official website has mentioned, but seems this feature doesn't exist in Expresii LITE. Where I can get software / features of the watercolor function?

You are doing a very great software and I wish you every success in near future!

Joe

Hi Joe,

Thanks for your encouragement! Very Happy

Answers:
1. We do have the import function in the Full version, but since a plain bitmap doesn't contain any stroke information, it's not possible to have the same kind of zooming capability for such an imported image. Therefore, I decided not to include such a function for the Lite version altogether.
What I'd suggest: you can use the overlay function to load a reference image for your work, draw your strokes in Expresii Lite, export the Expresii snapshot to your favorite image editor, and finish your work there.

2. We do have this function in the Full version. Let me add it to the Lite Preview for your to try. btw, if you make any artwork using Expresii and would show it public, do let us know by posting on our Facebook, or giving us a URL. Smile

3. The color spreading is only in the Full version. Right now, I'm focusing on finishing the Lite version, and not so much time working on the Full. You can apply for our beta-testing program though. I mainly need to see if you have a adequate GPU for that.

Hi,

You're welcome! Very Happy
Thanks for your reply.

1. Where I can locate the overlay function to load reference image into Expresii Lite?

2. Yes I would let you know if I have any artwork using Expresii but first I have to tackle the technical question on using it Very Happy
So I will look forward to the new updated version of the Lite Preview with this function (to save the file in PNG format with transparent background instead of the traditional Chinese paper background.)

3. Thanks! So I prefer to stick on the Lite version first and try the full version when it is completely ready. (since my current computer is not a fast one Very Happy )

Best Regards,
Joe

o... It's under the 'Surface' tab->Overlay. Did you keep looking at the 'App menu' tab?

Oh, sorry I found it now!Smile
But still I can't draw over the reference picture when I set it to 100% opacity.
So right now there's no way that I can use Expresii Lite to draw on top of my original artwork, am I correct?

The overlay only acts as a reference. You will need to do the image composting or editing in other tools like Photoshop. Let me know if there's any other thing I can help.
