Angular "Curves"

Post  Jason Maranto on Sat 15 Oct 2016, 10:32 pm

I have been really enjoying Expresii with one major exception: I tend to make rapid large curved strokes in Sumi-e style painting and Expresii tends to render these types of strokes in angular straight-line "curve steps".

If this issue can be resolved you definitely have my money Very Happy

Thank you for feedback, Jason! I'll put that on my to-do list. Smile

My GTX 750Ti gives me 160+ FPS in Expresii, and I'm quite happy with it when drawing curves.

Such angular steps are obvious if we use a slower GPU. We could make the curves smoother by rendering in more steps, but that would come with lag.
A fast GPU would gives you smooth curves and no lag.

Thank-you for the reply.

I have attached an image just to make sure we are talking about the same thing. As I draw these types of marks my FPS drops to roughly 160... but typically stays up near 190.

Did you forget the attachment?

If you have 160+ while painting, and close to 200 FPS when idling, your GPU's performance is close to mine.
Looks like you really do some very fast motion. Smile

I guess attachments are not allowed unless you register -- here is another try.

Yes, we're talking about the same thing.

I myself prefer doing more calligraphic lines and often find the current performance of Expresii sufficient.

But sure, I'll keep working on it to make it better.
