Painting reveals color yes, but it reveals a black color that disappears when settled. How do I fix this. Is this a bug or how the program works?

That sounds strange. Do you mind showing me some screenshots? It would be useful if you can show me your system info too, since it might be due to some out dated graphics driver. Please see the first screenshot in this page on how to get System Info from Expresii: https://www.expresii.com/support.html

Hasn't happened in a while. But its black spots that cover certain parts of the paper. They cannot be drawn over until I settle the board. Afterwards I can draw on those pieces of board.

Yours is an Intel 11th-gen CPU so the driver should be fairly new. I don't own an Intel 11th-gen CPU to test with, but for your information I tested with older Intel, AMD and Nvidia GPU and don't get any black spots.
If you encounter it again, please post a screenshot so that we know exactly what it looks like. Thank you.
